Introducing Glenn Jones - Candidate For Chairman For The Housing Sub-contractor Committee MBAV Elections 2025

Dear Councillors and Members,

The 2025 MBAV Elections have seen a wealth of very knowledgeable & Industry experienced candidates seek office to offer their services to ensure that Master Builders Victoria stays the most successful Building Association in Australia. I congratulate all Electoral Council members for your support and future vision for MBV.

For the members that do not know much about me, I have been a member of the Master Builders Association of Victoria for over 40 years, devoting much of my life to improving MBAV for the benefit of our Members.

My contributions to the building industry include serving on the MBAV Board twice from 1997 to 2001, a member of the Housing Sector Committee & Contracts and Specifications Committee for eight years - these roles involved the supervision and preparation of MBV Major Domestic Building Contracts as far back as HC-4 and included MBV Building Specifications and Guidance Notes for Member Training.

I have also served as the MBV delegate to the VBA Chief Executives Office from 2019 to 2023 - a support role which included my appointment to the Building Practitioners Board for two four-year terms. My first term was with the Building Control Commission in 1997 as Deputy Chairman of the Building Control Commission Builder Registration Sub-Committee during which time I authored many reports including Competency Recommendations and Practitioner Examination procedures.

Additionally, I have been extensively involved in procuring advisory reports relating to the Registration of Building Practitioners for the then commissioner Mr. Max Croxford, the Minister for Housing and the Department of Justice (DOJ & CAV).

I have continued these roles with the VBA and the Building Practitioners Board as well as being a consultant to the VBA and its Commissioners from 2019 onwards.

Since 1997 I have run Boston Group 911 Build Assist across Victoria providing Building Practitioner, Sub-Contractor & Consumer support. This includes Expert Report services in Building Disputes at VCAT in the Building and Property List, County Court and Supreme Court - some 28 years service to these legal jurisdictions.

I am proud that I have been able to assist many builders, sub-contractors and their families - many of them MBV members - over almost 30 years. Builder/Contractor problems are our business and an integral part of our practitioner support services via 911 Build Assist.

We also currently sponsor special recognition awards for Apprentices aspiring to become registered builders through the MBV Apprenticeship Awards program. Boston Group has proudly been a sponsor for the last 10 years of the MBAV Foundation that assists young people in obtaining training scholarships.

As a Platinum Member of MBV, I believe I can provide a wealth of support, direction & development to the Housing Sub-Contractor Sector Committee. Under my leadership, I will ensure that Sub-Contractors concerns will be heard.

I am looking forward to joining the team led by Steven Peluso - as our new President - in continuing the legacy of MBV’s 150 years of Victorian Builders and Contractors. Steven’s new team I believe, will represent over 250 years of experience & know how at Board Level in Building a Better World.
